Sifu Rene' Robinson
Sifu Rene' Robinson was born to Terry and Gloria Burley on February 25, 1968. She has one brother, David; two sisters, Donna
and Kathy; She has a step-mother, JoAnn; and one step-sister Lori. Rene' considers the most influential person in her life
to be her grand-mother, Marian Burley, whose outstanding character daily encourages her. Rene' currently lives in West Monroe,
Louisiana with her husband, Robert and their three children Amber, Kristen, and Lauren.
At the age of 4 Sifu Robinson began an extensive study in dance, gymnastics and her favorite, twirling. She eventually
turned the skill of twirling the baton to one of twirling the ratan stick.
Sifu Rene' Robinson began her Martial Arts training in Aikido under the instruction of her husband, Robert. Robert's martial
arts skill, his passion for Kajukenbo and his respect for Professor Jay Vera led her to begin training, along with her husband,
under Professor Vera where she received her Kajukenbo degree.
Her passion for teaching lies in her deep regard for the personal safety and protection of all women and children. She
dedicates her talents through her instruction of specialized safety and self defense curriculums and private instruction.
Rene' believes that each person deserves a specialized program that suites each of their individual needs.
In her continued course of training, Sifu Robinson has developed a heightened sense of personal space and public awareness
as well as a more confident demeanor. At the same time, she is humbled by the fact that there are so many techniques yet to
learn and so many variations to each technique due to the fact that each person and each scenario require a different technique.
Being of small stature makes training very interesting in that she is determined and encouraged to learn how to apply each
technique depending on the size of the opponent. Professor Vera and Sigung Robinson stress to her how to apply the proper
technique of leverage, timing and the sinking of weight to the larger opponent to acquire the desired outcome.
After studying and practicing with her husband, Robert, Sifu Robinson believes that skill comes from the understanding
of the body's range of motion and its relationship to the incredible speed of hand movements, that he possesses, is essential.
Therefore, she continues to train in Aikido, Jujitsu, and Kali with her husband and Professor Vera, two very dedicated instructors.
